What ever the occasion, my photographs aim to capture the character and emotion of my subjects. Portrait photography covers a wide range of genres and I don’t profess to be an expert at them all, but I do specialise and am experienced in the following:
Lifestyle photography of children, families, couples and teenagers,
Maternity shoots (Bump to Baby) – Never is there a better time to record an event than during the final months of pregnancy.
Boudoir – a specialist genre where I employ a fantastic female team of talented professionals to ensure my clients are not only amazingly looked after but look their very best for this very special style of shoot.
Commercial photography – I have provided commercial marketing images for various organisations ranging from schools, holiday cottages and hotels to breweries, African horse safaris and fashion designers.
Model portfolios and shoots: My most popular commercial genre has been shooting portfolios for new and established models.
What ever the shoot the format is generally similar. It’s all about making my clients feel relaxed and therefore, enabling them to enjoy the experience. Shoots can take anything from an hour to a full day, though most lifestyle shoots take about 2-3 hours. I tend not to use a studio, though can arrive with a small portable set up if required. My shoots are nearly always on location and this allows me to use natural light and open spaces to capture the character and personality of my subjects.
On the day of the shoot I ask that you put a side a good few hours because great photography can’t be rushed! What ever the shoot, when I arrive we will have a chat (over cup of tea is always good) so that I can get to know you a bit better. When everyone is happy with the plan, we will start shooting. I generally chat throughout the shoot asking questions and talking about all sorts. I’ll give gentle directions to my subjects about how to stand or position themselves as we walk and chat our way around the chosen shoot location. The time goes really quickly and before long my subjects are perfectly at ease in front of the camera and I’m taking great photos of the genuine person.
