Romantic Bristol Photoshoot

It was an overcast but pleasant Bristol evening when I met my couple for the first time, to photograph what turned out to be a beautiful Romantic Bristol Photoshoot.

Natalie, a lawyer, from Seattle had flown in to be with fiancé and chef, Ean, for a few days over the Bank Holiday weekend and this presented an ideal time to get them together for their pre-wedding shoot. They get married at Clearwell Castle in September but due to the vast distance that they live apart and the lack of time they will spend together in UK between now and then, we took this early opportunity to photograph them both. I meet 99% of all my wedding couples before I get to photograph them, but unusually for Natalie and Ean this was our first meeting.  Natalie had booked me following a series of e-mail conversations while she was in America so meeting face-to-face was not an option.  As a result they were both a bit nervous when we started, but like all my couples it didn’t take long for them to relax and enjoy the experience.

In fact within about 20 minutes Natalie was in full modelling mode and Ean was clearly enjoying the moment! Brandon Hill Park, near Clifton in the heart of Bristol, is a small area of public parkland but full of great little coves and hideaways that direct the light and frame the images with branches, leaves and twisted trunks.  The centre piece is the huge tower that sits on the hill and overlooks the SS Great Briton and out towards Somerset.  It is a peaceful retreat from the bustle of the city.
